Crafting by Designs is having a Design Team Call

Hi everyone, Doris here. Crafting by Designs is looking to add a few creative people to our Design Team. We're looking for people who like to be creative, have fun, and sometimes create outside of their comfort zone - is that you?

We don't have many requirements but as a member of the
Crafting by Designs team you'd be required to:

  • Prepare a project for at least two weekly challenges per month and follow the theme of each, but you can play along with every one if you like
  • Meet our weekly deadlines for posting challenges and comments
  • Use a digital image if supplied by a sponsor, and link back to their store or blog
  • Host at least one challenge, theme of your choice, every 10 weeks
  • Be willing to jump in when necessary to help out a fellow DT member
  • Comment on assigned number entries every week
  • Have an active blog and be willing to promote Crafting by Designs and our weekly sponsors by displaying a DT badge and links back to CBD and the sponsor
  • We have a DT group on Facebook and Yahoo, so you'd need access to both
  • Not be afraid to try something new and outside your comfort zone
  • Love to have fun with a very friendly and talented group for at least a 6 month period beginning September 2013.
If this sounds like fun to you, please drop us an email at craftingbydesigns@gmail.com that includes a little bio about yourself, a link to your blog as well as a link to 3 of your favorite recent projects.  Prior DT experience isn't necessary, we all have to start somewhere :)  The deadline to submit applications is August 31 and those selected will be notified by September 1.  We look forward to hearing from you!!

Mixed Media Challenge

Hi!
Chrissie here, to share a little Mixed Media project with you!

I used some Faber-Castell Gelatos for the background of the tag and then mixed it with two different Memento/Tuskineko inks (Tuxedo Black and Delicata Golden Glitz).  And just in case you're wondering, the stamps are from Crafter's Companion!

I'd like to challenge you to create a Mixed Media project.  That means mixing at least two types of mediums (ink, paint, gelatos, crayons, whatever!) and play along with us.

You have until August 27th to play along for a nice little prize pack we are giving away.

It's a Bazzill Basic Paper Mac Bundle.

It includes a 6x6 pack of Mac Mini-prints, a 4x6 pack of coordinating Two Scoops paper, a pack of 4x6 Mac Journaling cards and 5.5x12 sticker sheet.

You can purchase these products on the Weekly Deal page at Cuttin' and Stampin'

Just link up below.  Good luck and we can't wait to see what you've come up with!

Celebrate Women!

Hello Everyone!

Time for a new challenge!

I live in South Africa and on the 9th of August we celebrate National Women's Day.
This day has historical value for us, but essentially it recognizes the role women played and still play in society. This week our theme is: Anything Goes with a Twist: Celebrate Women!
I'm also throwing in an optional inspiration via Pinterest.
The optional challenge:

This cake really screams celebrate. Remember, it is totally optional!
You can use any colour, any style! BUT...if you need a little inspiration, then I'm sure you will find something in this photo!

We have a new sponsor this week! Digistamps4Joy is giving 5 images (own choice) to the winner of the challenge!

Another first is that we have a Guest Designer from the DT of our sponsor! I'm delighted to present to you the talented Desire Fourie:

{Doing Life} in beautiful sunny South Africa. Loving wife for 28+ years. Keen Photographer. Avid Gardener. Energetic Hiker. Ad hoc Race Walker. Addicted to Spinning. Scrapaholic. Committed Scrapbook Teacher. Founder/Manager Doing Life Online Shoppe. Bedazzled Beader. Card creator. Mosaic Enthusiast. PA/Secretary/Bookkeeper. Chocoholic. Right now I would love to be outdoors blending with nature.

Now onto the wonderful inspiration pieces from the designers using Digistamps4Joy images:

Take some time to visit the blogs of the Design Team & our Guest Designer, and do leave some love!

A little bit more about our sponsor:

Digistamps4Joy
South African crafters are new to the digital stamping world, with the first South African online digital image store launched in 2010 – Digistamps4Joy (or DS4J) http://www.digistamps4joy.co.za/eshop .  In May 2012, Margy Kieser took over ownership of DS4J, and there are now two South African artists who contribute to the more than 600 images available. Margy has taken the store to new heights and the store now stocks digis that are cute, whimsical, artistic, sometimes serious, and sometimes humorous. In addition, one of our own South African rubber stamp companies granted us permission for one range of rubber stamps to be converted into digistamp images. The store has PAYPAL, PAYFAST (South African) and EFT (South African) facilities.  Digistamps4Joy offers a monthly freebie on the first Friday of every month, and holds regular bi-weekly card challenges on our Blog (http://digistamps4joy-sa.blogspot.com ) that draw entries from many international card makers.

We (DS4J) are also active on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/DS4Joy) and Paper Craft Planet (http://www.papercraftplanet.com/group/digistamps4joy). We’d love it if you joined us!

Now it is your turn to come up with lovely creation! Remember, your creation must celebrate women! It can be feminine, fun or just something special for a female friend. And if you get stuck, there is still some inspiration from Pinterest! Once you are done, make sure to link up your blogpost here!  You'll have until August 13th to add your project and if you don't have your own blog, you can add your project to our flickr group by clicking the link in the left sidebar.
I'm so excited to see what you are going to make!

Hugs

Rene
